Empowering Children with Ethics and Golden Values
At Sassy’s Secret Ingredients, baking is a fun way to help kids practice the golden values of friendship. Inspired by the Golden Gate Kids Pledge, we encourage children to mix kindness and respect into everything they do, include everyone, solve problems together, and make someone’s day a little brighter.
Whether they’re sharing a treat or helping a friend, Sassy reminds them of one secret ingredient they can take anywhere.
Always remember to smile.
One Authors Journey To Teach
When Melody Larsen began teaching culinary arts to young children, she saw how much they could learn beyond a recipe. Baking gave them a chance to try something new, work together, and feel proud of what they had made. Those experiences helped inspire Sassy’s Secret Ingredients: How to Bake a Friend. Melody will continue teaching culinary classes for kids, sharing the skills and creativity of baking along with the joy of making something for others.
The Book That Started It All!
Sassy’s Secret Ingredients: How to Bake a Friend, is the first book in a nine-book series. In this story, Sassy begins to discover that friendship, kindness and patience, are some of the most important ingredients of all. Her journey introduces readers to a world where baking becomes a way to understand relationships, build confidence, and recognize the special qualities within themselves.
As the series continues, Sassy will bake new characters who help her see who she can become. Each friend will bring a different lesson, challenge, or perspective, guiding Sassy as she grows into a master baker and an even better friend. Together, these characters will encourage her to explore her talents, learn from mistakes, and discover that every step along the way can help her become the best version of herself
“Meet my friend Chip, he is always ready to make you smile.”
